25 Things

Welcome to my blog if you are stopping by after reading today's devotion! I hope the devotion has you thinking about where God has you... and where He is taking you. Speaking of where He is taking you, do you ever write down your goals? I wrote this post about a recent exercise I went through that I thought that some of you might want to do it as well. I hope it inspires you!

This post inspired me. I took some time over the last several days to create my own list, which I wrote in my journal. I like activities like this because it causes me to dream, and plan. I remember reading in Debbie Macomber's book Knit Together that she wrote down goals for herself and found that she was more likely to achieve the things she wrote down. She even made a list of 30 people she would like to meet and is amazed at how God has orchestrated her meeting many of those people! (She also learned to make a list of the 30 people God wants her to meet, but you'll have to read the book to discover how she learned that lesson!) Another book Write It Down, Make It Happen was based on the premise that we need to write down the things we want to happen in life. I have that book on order right now.

My list was fun to write. I encourage you to write one too. Even though I have seen some wonderful dreams come true for me in the last few years, I never want to stop dreaming because I know God won't quit exceeding my expectations beyond what I can ask or imagine. I love the anticipation of what's next and when I can go back and look at a dated list of when I first gave voice to my dreams, that helps me praise Him all the more!
Pin It!

Thank you for this post Marybeth. I've made up my mind to "Let go and let God". He knows what is best and will truly make everything beautiful in His time.

Thanks for you post today...
It reminds me of a minister (Mike Murdock) that strongly taught on this idea of writing down your weekly, monthly, yearly and lifetime goals. I hadn't thought of this for years! Now that I have children 6 and under it's more important to write down what goals the Lord has for me.

Also I am reminded of the scripture in Habakkuk 2:1-3 NKJV

1 I will stand my watch
And set myself on the rampart,
And watch to see what He will say to me,
And what I will answer when I am corrected.

The Just Live by Faith

2 Then the LORD answered me and said:

“ Write the vision
And make it plain on tablets,
That he may run who reads it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come,
It will not tarry.

WOW! Thanks again for the reminder today! God Bless

Okay...I'm inspired! I've already put a 'hold' on the book through our state's interlibrary loan system.
I had the most vivid dream about you a couple of nights ago. In my dream, we ran into each other in a bookstore where we were both there to do some writing. Right before I woke up, I was asking you to tell me what your novel is about. LOL
I guess I'm just too impatient (and nosy) for my own good. Can't wait!
Have a great rest of the week!
Blessings,

Thank you so much for your devotion and your amazing blog. I am glad to have found you through Proverbs 31 Ministries (I already have your book, For the Write Reason - love it!). I'll definitely be following your blog! :)

Normally, I am right on track with you, but today that did not happen. I am saddened that you may be confusing women who are in terrible situations right now. Your Scripture refers to a time when the Israelites were slaves to the Egyptians, nothing of their own fault. Your devotion spoke of children who sinned and were reaping what they had sowed. They were given too much of the world, they indulged and they received punishment as they should. Then you brought it all back around to women who may be going through a time and may not see or understand what God is doing, the problem is that in relationship to your story,they may feel as if they are being punished by God.There is not a relationship between your Scripture, your story and your final thoughts. I am sure that you did not mean any harm and that it was crystal clear when you wrote the devotional, but your theology is not accurate. I pray this comes as constructive and not harsh. Blessings
