Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Books I Should Read But Haven't

This post got me thinking about creating my own list of ten books I should read, but haven't. Mine is less classic books and more current books that have caused a stir in the literary world. It's not that I don't want to read these books-- I do-- it's just that other books, for various reasons, have found a spot at the top of my TBR (to be read) pile. I call the list below my "highbrow" books-- meaning you have to think to read them. What does it say about me that I tend to read the books that don't make me think very hard? Wait... don't answer that.

1. Let The Great World Spin by Colum McCann

2. Alice I Have Been by Melanie Benjamin

3. Hotel At The Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford

4. Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simonson

5. Sarah's Key by Tatiana De Rosnay

6. Peace Like A River by Leif Enger

7. The Paris Wife by Paula McLain

8. The Kitchen Daughter by Jael McHenry

9. The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

10. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Pin It!

I also have "Sarah's Key" and "The Book Thief" on my TBR list, alongside a hundred others! Good luck on that reading list, Marybeth. =)

I love seeing other people's reading lists. Thanks for posting yours...I've added these to my list :) I just happen to be reading Peace Like a River right now. It's been sitting on my shelf for ages. I'm about halfway through and I think it is a fantastic novel. Beautifully written!

The Thirteenth Tale is cozy, mysterious, and delightful. Not as much of a thinking read as you might suspect. I loved it.

I've read three on your list, and all were wonderful:
The Book Thief, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet and The Kitchen Daughter.

The Book Thief is one of the few books that has ever made me sob out loud: so good, but so sad.

Sarah's Key is my all time favorite.
