Psalms For Moms

"It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect." Psalm 18:32

Ever tried being the perfect wife, mom, homemaker, friend, daughter, etc?

It's exhausting.

It's impossible.

In our own strength, that is.

He arms us with the strength we need to go that perfect way. The way He has for us. The way He designed us to go.

I often hear people quote Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."

But sometimes I hear people just say "I can do all things through Christ..." and they leave off the last part, the part that is the clue as to how we can do all things. Because He gives us the strength. He makes our way perfect because He's behind, under, around and in all of it-- fueling us, equipping us, enabling us, fortifying us to take that next step, do that next thing.

In our own strength we will surely fail. In His we will flourish.

Today when you feel yourself falling short-- short on patience, short on time, short on resources, short on perfection-- whisper this verse as a prayer: You arm me with strength and make my way perfect. Then stand back in expectation of what He will do next.

Oh yes, this is the perfect verse for me today. I have been struggling fruitlessly over burdens that I can't seem to get a handle on. I think when I finally realize that I can't do any of it without God, my burdens seem lighter, which has been harder in the last few weeks because I have been feeling a lot less close to God. Some things have been conspiring to make me feel like he is hiding his face from me, and it's really hard to take.

The last time this happened, I just had to keep bombarding myself with thoughts of him and prayers to him until he came back into my life again. It's funny, because I was just having this conversation with my husband last night, and then ended up going into the bedroom and listening to Christian music, which did make me feel a little better.

Your blog and the things you post are really a spiritual refuge for me, and I thank you so much for it.

If we were perfect all by ourselves, everyone would hate us...if it's Him, it's all about the L word. Thanks for the reminders.
