No Hold

I read in John 14:30 today where Jesus said of Satan, "He has no hold on me." This verse affected me in two ways-- one, it comforted me with the reminder that Jesus is stronger than Satan and two, it challenged me to make that my goal. Even though I know I will never accomplish that totally on this side of heaven, it was nice to consider a life where Satan has no hold on us-- where his temptations to sin are overcome. Where I don't have to fear his power on this earth because I am strong in Christ. Where I don't worry about what damage he will wreak in our family because of his potential to steal, kill and destroy. Where I seek Jesus first instead of run to Him after the fact.

He has no hold on me.

I like the sound of that.

I love the sound of that! And I believe it, too! We are more than conquerors, right?

Prayers and Blessings!

I like that sound of that too! Being so strong in Christ that our strength is not weakened by anything that comes at us.

Hi,
not sure if this is where I can post a comment to your Prov. 31 blog..."Free but walking in my own light"...I just wanted to say that it has given me food for thought.

I am in a situation now where I have an opportunity to homeschool my last child (for at least one year). It seems like an impossible task for me and I have been fearful. Your words of declaring dependence upon God are helping to remind me that I can walk in dependence on Him. Many people have said "God won't give you more than you can handle." but i am not sure that is true...I think, if we are willing that He often gives us things that we can't handle...to keep us dependent on Him.

Yes, "His grace is sufficient"....if we allow ourselves the "overwhelming" opportunites for Him to prove it.

God bless you...and thanks so much!

Marybeth,
I'm catching up on blogs tonight (we've been out of town at camp) and I just read this post. It really spoke to me. We've had a rough seizure week and I really just want to scream at Satan and say... leave me and my son alone. Thanks for the reminder that he had no hold on me. Hope you have a great time at the beach. Glad the move is going well.
