Inspiring Friday Thoughts

Remember my post about the episode of Franklin? Well, today in my daily devotion time, I found this quote that goes along with that lesson perfectly:

The greatest challenge in receiving great things from God is holding on for the last half hour.

That reminds me of a quote that is painted on the walls of my gym:

90% of failures occur because someone gave up too soon.

And then there is this, the most important Word on the subject of all:

We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly to the end the confidence we had at first.
Hebrews 3:14

Oooh....SO appropriate in light of the section of Patriarchs that we just finished in my ladies' Bible Study...all about Jacob wrestling until he got the blessing.

Good stuff.
Good God.

I read this book about accomplishing your dreams/goals (can't remember the name)and the author likened it to wanting to give up just as you're giving birth. Push through the pain.
I remember giving birth to my son and forgetting that I was actually having a baby- that's how bad the fight to the finish was.

Love your point you're making here. I receive your exhortation!

Marybeth,
I hope your family is all better. I was catching up on you this morning (I read your last 3 posts just now). I am trying to keep up with 2 blogs also. Like you, one has a specific purpose. I wondered how I could keep both up effectively and it goes back to what you wrote about this week on your "other blog". It's all the Lord. I can't keep up with it all, but somehow He uses me and my crazy life and makes something effectively good out of it.

I will be checking in on both of your blogs as much as I can. I miss seeing you, so it's the next best thing!
Much Love,
Melissa

Hi Marybeth,
So appreciated these quotes. Thanks for the encouragement not to give up, but to persevere. Wonderful reminders.

On another note, I'm 24 days through your 31 day devotional, "For the Write Reason". DAILY God is speaking to my heart. Powerful book with a personal message. It's been hard not to just read this book in one sitting, yet I want to give the Lord time to speak His Words to me. Thank you for your giving, kind heart.
Blessings,
Joy
