The August Challenge: Second Question

This week we're answering questions pertaining to ourselves in ten years. You can go back to Monday and Tuesday to catch up if you've missed out.

Second question is:

In ten years, what do you want to be known for?

I want to be known for wisdom.

And I want to be known as an encourager to all, but maybe especially to the underdog, the ordinary, and those who feel like no one notices them.

I didn't read your first question until late last night, so I went to bed thinking about it. I normally do my devotions first thing when I get up, but decided to write my ponderings about your question in my journal first. I couldn't remember exactly how you had phrased the question, but in thinking about 10 years I scribbled 3 pages worth of my thoughts about it. And in a round about way I did answer your question "How do I want to be seen in ten years?"

After all that writing, I closed with a prayer asking the Lord to bring about HIS purposes and plans for my life and my family's life.

I was blown away when a few minutes later, I opened my Bible to the scripture in my devotion for today. It was Joshua 1:1-9. Most know the theme of these set of verses is "be strong and courageous....THEN your way will be prosperous and you will have good success." WOW! Some of my writing included thoughts about success - in the world's eyes versus God's eyes - and I felt like God was speaking directly to me about what I had written.

A powerful moment for me this morning that I wanted to share with you. A moment I might not have had without your question.

In a nutshell, I want to be known as a Proverbs 31 woman. Verse 28 comes to mind, "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." If I attain all kinds of attention and worthiness outside of my home, but do not show the same to my family as I do to others, it is all in vain. May HE continue the work in me HE has begun.

Thanks for the thought-provoking, journal-filling questions, Marybeth. Bring 'em on!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Sweet Blessings,
Pam

I want to be known for loving books and inspiring others to love books and reading and writing.

As someone who takes the experiences HE gives me, coupled with the word HE left me, combining and translating them onto written page for His glory!
