Thanks to all of you who drop by today after reading my devotion at P31! I am glad to have you here!

So, what are you up to today?

I am spending today editing the book on speaking which will be similar in format to the book on writing that came out in 05, For The Write Reason. I am very excited about this resource as it is packed full of wisdom from some wonderful speakers. I can't wait to share it with you guys... and I won't have to wait long since it comes out this summer... just in time for She Speaks!

Please feel free to browse my blog. Just below this post you will find photos of a wedding on the beach my family and I attended this past weekend, and below that you will find an exciting announcement about an upcoming conference for women that will take place online. Both myself and Lysa TerKeurst are speaking as well as an impressive lineup of speakers with excellent topics. I can't wait to hear some of the sessions myself!

I am so glad you stopped by today!

I really enjoyed your devotional today! I am closer to 40 than to 30 years old and have given up my dream of having a child. Or I thought I had. Because of PCOS (which is being treated), I have cycle and fertility issues that hubby and I have decided against seeking reproductive assistance for. I think I just let that dream get scribbled on, but I still have to surrender it every month, knowing that God has planned something to bless me and to give me hope and a future. Whether it will be with lovely, beautiful children (like yours :) ) or with other blessings- I'll leave that up to Him.
God bless your ministry.

I just posted in my blog about waiting on God for a dream-- check it out at

Marybeth your devotional was outstanding this morning. My favorite line: "Yes, surrender your dreams—holding onto them lightly and always keeping His plans as your purpose, ready to lay down anything He asks because no dream is more important than Him."

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in what we want to DO for Him we neglect God Himself. The most important priority we have is loving Him. Yet so easily I lose sight of that when this becomes overshadowed by my own agenda.

Congratulations on the new book contract!! You give all of us fledgling writers hope. Best wishes as you begin your new project.

Hi, Marybeth. Another great devotion! Thanks for bringing the right perspective to things. I keep reminding myself that we go through different seasons of life - and that the dream that needs to be put on hold for this season can still be fulfilled in the next.
Thanks for the ministry of your words!

Thank you so much for your devotional this morning. It home very deeply within my heart. My husband and I have been living with my parents for almost 3 years now. We gave up our own home and moved out of state to be near them because of God's leading in our lives. Due to situations out of control and the economy of this area, we have not been able to afford buying another home. I have LONGED desperately and dreamed about having my own home again and have asked the Lord for so long to open that door but as of yet, it has remained closed. I have felt like my "dream" has gone and I have lost hope that it would ever happen. Thank you SO MUCH for the reminder of "God's ability to overcome the impossible and open doors that were once slammed shut." This door feels slammed and bolted shut right now but God's timing is just not now. So I'll keep waiting and holding on to my dream until God shows me otherwise! Thank you for your words today!

I LOVED your devotional today! I've been afraid to dream for a long time. I feel like I keep hopping from one part-time job to another just because it's there. (The homeschooling thing is constant, though.) I can't decide what I want to do when I grow up! I latch onto one thing, then watch it disintegrate before my eyes, give up that dream, and move onto something else to fill in the gap.

BTW, I caught your HOTM article yesterday - good stuff there, too! (I contribute once a month too!)

Thank you so much for your encouraging words. My dream of having my book published seems to be like a rollar coaster...currently I am on the bottom of the hill. I keep giving it to the Lord, knowing that His purposes far surpass mine. Thanks for reminding me to give it to Him, but not to give up hope~

Thank you for your encouragement today. I have so many dreams on my heart that are on hold for now. Your devotional was a great reminder not to write them all off just yet. Especially since one of the biggest dreams is a book I've been working on. It's good to know other writers struggle with this, too. Thanks again!

Your words touched my soul deep inside today. God was reassuring me, through you, that He is still there and still working in a desire of my heart.
Thank you yet again for being His vessel of encouragement.

Your devotion was so timely for me, Marybeth. Just confirming that I need to continue to go for the (what my brain says is) unreachable dream!

God spoke right to me through your devotion. We are experiencing set-backs in our mortgage application and just when I convinced myself we will live the rest of our lives in this tiny, basement apartment, I read the hopeful words of your devotion. It reminded me to put my hope in God and not anything else. Thank you!

I just love the way everyone who commented has such different "dreams" and yet can relate to each other and to your devotion in such a personal way....God's Word is like that, isn't it? No matter what we're facing, the Words just hit home.....they are truly alive and active! And I am so thankful. They have gotten me through so many dark days. Marybeth, thank you for your devo today. SO timely. I love you. Loved the photos of the wedding romantic!!! There has to be an ocean in Heaven.......

Have a great rest of your week!

I am looking forward to sitting down and actually reading your devotional...but it will have to wait. I went to the doctor today and found out I have a couple of infected styes on the under side of my eyelid! YOW!! Anyway, reading for more than a minute or two is painful. BUT I have it saved to my computer and I KNOW that it is going to be fabulous!!
