Soaking It In

"Sooo," my agent asked me yesterday on the phone. "What do you think?"

He was referring to our book, to the reality of actually holding it in our hands after the long wait.

"It's very cool," I told him. Then I went on to describe how my 14.5 (the .5 is mucho important) yo daughter came in and saw me reading it. She shook her head and asked me: "Mom, why are your reading your own book?"

I explained to her about memory loss and aging. She gave me a blank look and left the room.

My agent didn't think it was silly that I was reading my own book. "It's kind of like holding your baby after it's born. You've got to check all the little fingernails and toenails, the little creases in the neck. You've just got to soak it in after the long wait."

I thought that was a very eloquent way to put it. So, that's what I am doing these days-- soaking it in. Enjoying the satisfaction of holding the book that I put time and effort into. Imagining the people who might read it, hoping to find the answers they are looking for in these uncertain times. Praying they find the courage to make the changes, stick to the commitment, and enjoy the blessings of living financially free.

What a blessed experience. I have a friend who is a published author. I will never forget the way she expressed her feelings as she worked on her first book. The many months of waiting to hear whether or not her book would be published, and subsequently, the months of grueling writing, editing and, of course, more editing and writing-- she could only describe it as a spiritual pregnancy and she was just being patient to nurture and grow this "spiritual baby" until it's birth.

Incredible. Congratulations on being able to finally hold your "baby!"

I'm ordering my copy this moment. Be blessed.

I'm so happy for you and your "baby"! Of course you read it and thumbed through it and held it up a million times just to admire it and left it sitting out so you could glance at it every time you passed by. It's your dream- COME TRUE! I can't wait to read it. I think I need it more than ever.

In this economy, you just might be holding a bestseller in your hands. Let's hope so!

Congratulations!! May your work be beneficial to all who read it!

And I get the aging and memory loss thing. Sometimes I read what I wrote even a month ago and it is like reading what someone else wrote. On the bright side, I can enjoy a movie over and over again. I can never remember how it ended.

Congratulations on finally holding your new book. And what a timely book it is, what with our current economic situation. God knows exactly the right moment to give us His wisdom, and I'm sure this book will be a blessing to many. Thanks for following the Lord's guidance and sharing this necessary resource. God bless.

I saw your blog title on another blog and had to come check it out since our titles are so similar. Glad to see we have much more in common, also. People are always telling me I should write a book, unfortunately I'm busy living the life the book would be about (!)

I'm going to get your book on writing and see if I can find a good excuse NOT to try my hand at it :)

Love the picture of your family!

Awesome! I would love to add some quotes from you in my weekly Frugal Living column in the local paper. I just started writing it at the beginning of the year but it is going well. Let me know a topic you would want to give tips on and I'll quote you and your book and build the article around it.

Let me know. My plans for the coming articles include frugal pet care, frugal fitness and DIY projects for the Spring.

Take care,
