Powerful honesty, and a prodding from the Lord for us all to do our own soul searching.

Thank you for sharing- because you didn't have to. I too have felt the need to take my writing up a notch. This summer at She Speaks I actually met with an editor and just a few minutes ago I mailed off a submission for the P31 on-line devotionals. Don't know if I will ever be published or not, but know I must at least put forth the effort and leave the rest up to Him.Jodie Wolfehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13734191097693490693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3762514.post-87525752821860524132007-09-28T10:58:00.000-04:002007-09-28T10:58:00.000-04:00I have no idea why anyone would leave you negative...I have no idea why anyone would leave you negative comments about your decision. He didn't say we "have" to home school them, just that we are responsible. And for different parents, there are different choices that are all made within the context of being responsible. If you prayed about your decision (which you did), then you can trust that God WILL guide you in what you decide (and He did). Don't feel like you have to apologize for or explain your decision - if that's what God has led you to do, be free in Him!Lizhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00803462344579350173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3762514.post-11606072123881735112007-09-28T09:08:00.000-04:002007-09-28T09:08:00.000-04:00Oh, Marybeth! I know it was a bold step, and I will pray that you are received in love.

What is interesting to me about what you shared is not so much the details of determining what God wants you to do, but the way you handled it all. You took your life, the one God has given you personally, laid it on the altar (over time) and ultimately bowed your knee to His will. How beautiful!

I've been through the exact same scenario this summer, too. But my details weren't homeschool verse writing/speaking. It was ministry vs being still before the Lord and giving Him the space and time to fill my plate.

By the end of the summer, God gave me a vision for my life, through reading some books (Lysa's, When Women Walk..., and Keri Wyatt Kent's, Breathe), and through lots of prayer and Scripture study. This is what I wrote down, to return to as a reminder of my mission:

By God’s grace and mighty power, my life is marked by the privilege of serving Him by spreading the good news (Ephesians 3:7). In service to God, with my eyes set on Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith, the manner in which I serve will be under continual evolution. The work I am privileged to join my Heavenly Father in is right before me–my husband and children–as I seek to nurture their bodies, souls, and minds, all the while allowing God free reign to do the same on me. I am made in the image of Christ, by a creative and marvelous God, who intends good things for my life, but by His economy not mine. As I allow Him to work freely through me, I anticipate a future of full satisfaction–creatively, spiritually, emotionally and physically–where my emotional and physical wounds will be healed. My heart's desire is to be a mother whose children arise and call her blessed and a wife whose husband gives praise to her name.

Let me tell you firsthand, I am a work in progress, but I have witnessed God at work in incredible ways as I yield to His will and set thine eyes on Him. I pray you will have the same peace and joy in your days ahead as well. May we be happy moms, wives, and daughters of the King together!

Bathing in His Extravagant Grace,
ElisaLisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10845894193543130893noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3762514.post-11627195914616285482007-09-28T07:06:00.000-04:002007-09-28T07:06:00.000-04:00God put you in charge of your children's education...God put you in charge of your children's education. Its still on my heart and at this point, I know its not the idea of homeschooling that I used to be in love with taking us on this road. Its a calling.
